Digital health-care journal to empower Albertans facing cancer

Calgary tech start-up HAnalytics Solutions has launched a digital tool that will help patients and their caregivers track and record their cancer journey with ease and confidence

June 24, 2020 – Alberta – Alberta Cancer Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of HAnalytics Solutions lnc.’s new mobile app called Zoelnsights, which will have a positive impact on the quality of life of Albertans facing cancer and their families.

Every day, 53 Albertans hear the words, “you have cancer.” Facing a cancer diagnosis comes with many challenges, and navigating an often-complex health-care system can add a new layer of difficulty. Specifically, managing health-care data such as appointment dates, medications, treatments, side-effects and post-treatment care can become scattered, overwhelming and difficult to communicate.

Zoelnsights is an innovative, digital tool that will allow patients and their caregivers to manage this complexity of information with ease. This secure, patient-centric app, funded in part by the generosity of Alberta Cancer Foundation donors, will help patients easily track their cancer journeys, empowering them to make the best personal choices as they navigate the data-heavy health-care realm. It will allow patients and caregivers to efficiently log all information related to their cancer experience, whether that’s questions, observations, photos or consultation notes and it can keep track of appointments, medications, supplements and dosages in a streamlined way. Patients using the app will be readily able to access searchable information on drugs and therapy as well as their personal diagnosis summary enabling them to actively participate in managing and coordinating interactions with their health-care teams.

“As the patient or caregiver, you are the hub of information for service providers. The more accurate information you can provide, the better they can serve you,” says Shaneel Pathak, CEO, HAnalytics Solutions, Inc.

This health journal will work as a digital alternative and in conjunction with the current paper journal that the Alberta Cancer Foundation provides to all the cancer centres throughout Alberta, which serves to manage patient-related information and direct them to key resources.

“Working with a web developer with such a passion for making life better for Albertans facing cancer has been great,” says James Yip, Senior Program Investment Development Officer for the foundation.

This ground-breaking initiative will enable patients and their caregivers to become active members in their cancer journey, lessening the stressors of a cancer diagnosis and easing the cancer journey for patients across the province. The Alberta Cancer Foundation and HAnalytics Solutions Inc. invite Albertans and their families to use this app
