ERC Gayle Shaw Memorial Fun Day – 2021
Oct 23 all-day

Gayle Shaw was a great supporter of Ringette. She saw the joy & fun that Ringette brings to so many of us, and worked tirelessly to ensure her daughter, teammates, and future generations of Elite athletes had opportunities to develop their skills and experience, and create amazing memories at the same time.  At the Gayle Shaw Memorial Fun Day, the ERC celebrates her legacy and we invite all Edmonton area Ringette athletes to come out and have some fun! Gayle was taken from us fighting cancer, so we find it only fitting that we raise funds for cancer research – and to show our support for victims of cancer while playing the game that Gayle loved so much.  There is no cost for athletes to register for the Fun Day.

100 Kata for World Karate Day – for ACF – 2021
Oct 24 all-day
This year, the dojo will again be participating in the 100 Kata for Karate Day Challenge, an annual event since 2014, celebrated on October 25. Again this year, they are using it as an opportunity to raise money for the Alberta Cancer Foundation. But this event takes on a very special meaning for them this time.
In January 2021, they lost their dear friend Sarah, a karate mom and wife and a stalwart supporter of the dojo, to cancer. Sarah had been with them since 2008, studying for a time with her family and eventually becoming the dojo’s treasurer. She also joined them on a very memorable training junket to Okinawa, Japan in 2016.
This year, it only seems fitting that they remember and honour Sarah’s dedication and devotion to the dojo by training hard and raising money to support the foundation’s research and its support for Albertans living with cancer.
