Join us on Saturday, August 17, 2019 as we drag cancer through the mud in the the 7th annual Down & Dirty 5KM Obstacle Course benefiting the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

A 5km obstacle course at Sunridge Ski Area, the race will feature a variety of challenges for mud lovers, including hills, lifting, climbing, an 80-foot slip and slide down the ski hill, and much, much more!  If you plan on taking part in this event, be prepared get muddy, and have a great time doing it.

This exciting, one-day event will accelerate progress for patients and their families at Edmonton’s Cross Cancer Institute through donations to the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Thank you for joining us as we work together to make life better for Albertans facing cancer.

Kids Course - By Donation

We have a kids course available for toddlers up to age 11 with parental supervision! This course is FREE by donation of any denomination on race day to the Down & Dirty Obstacle Course Society. Registration for Kids Course is available on event day.

Age Restrictions

Ages 15+ can run the race solo. Ages 11-14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18.

Event Information

Thanks to the generous team at Sunridge Ski Area we will once again be using their hill for the race. The 2019 Down & Dirty 5KM will have more obstacles, more mud, and hopefully one or two new surprises! We are aiming for a bigger turnout this year, which means larger groups and a more impactful donation to the Cross Cancer Institute to make life better for Albertans facing cancer.

The Details

Date: Saturday, August 17, 2019
Location: Sunridge Ski Area, 10980 17 Street Edmonton, AB T6S 1E4

Please give yourself plenty of time to get to the ski hill as there is a train that runs frequently across the only entrance point to the hill.

Heat times - Racers will be sent out in heats throughout the day. Heat times will be delivered one month before race day

Registration Fee:  $40 until March 17th

                               $50 between March 18 and May 16th

                               $55 between May 17th and August 13th

                               $60 August 17th race day regisration (if space is available)

Fundraising is Optional

Your registration fee is your entry into the race and gets you a timing chip a and medal. Racers who fund-raise $100 or more will also receive a race t shirt, entry into prize draws lunch and a beverage.

Volunteering

If you aren't interested in participating, we are always looking for volunteers of all ages to help with race setup, on race day and for race take down. If you would like to volunteer please send an email to info@downanddirty.ca

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I collect donations offline?
If you have friends or family that would like to support your fundraising efforts but are unable to make a donation online, please print off a pledge form to capture all donor information.

This ensures we are able to issue tax receipts. Please mail or drop off all donations to the Alberta Cancer Foundation’s Provincial Office (710, 10123 – 99 Street Edmonton, AB T5J 3H1). You can also bring these donations along with you on event day as the Alberta Cancer Foundation will be on site to collect them.

Is fundraising mandatory?
Fundraising is not required but encouraged, 100% of this money goes to the Alberta Cancer Foundation to benefit patients and their families at the Cross Cancer Institute. Donations can be made on the webpage under the participants’ name.

What are the incentives to register?
Your registration fee is your entry into the race and gets you a timing chip and medal. If you fundraise a minimum of $100 before August 17th, you will receive a t-shirt, a beverage, lunch and entry into the prize draws.

What is the 5KM Obstacle Course?
It is a 5km course set up on and around the Sunridge Ski Area in Edmonton, Alberta. The course is designed to be challenging yet fun and, of course, muddy! On this course you will be carrying and dragging objects, climbing over  and under obstacles. There are also a few surprises along the way!

Where is the race?
The race will take place at the Sunridge Ski Area in Edmonton, Alberta located at 10980 17th Street. Parking is limited so please car pool if you can, as registration fills up we may make additional plans for parking/shuttling if needed.  You will be emailed instructions if this is the case. When is the race?
The race will take place on Saturday, August 17, 2019. Heat placement and start times will be available closer to the race date.

How much does it cost to register and participate?
The registration fee covers the cost of the race materials, promotions and prizes. This fee must be paid at the time of registration.

 Registration fee is :   $40 until March 17th

                                      $50 between March 18 and May 16th

                                      $55 between May 17th and August 13th

                                      $60 August 17th race day regisration (if space is available

What is the age limit to participate?
Minimum age for solo racing is 15 years old. 11 years old to 14 years old can race with a parent or guardian over the age of 18.
