Jody Mathon, Kim Tilley, Keri Emin and Tamara Serediak are four friends who share more than a close bond and a penchant for the colour purple. All have lost a parent to pancreatic cancer over the past six years and decided that it was time to take a stand against this disease by raising awareness and money through a fundraiser called “Purple with a Purpose” on November 9th at the Art Gallery of Alberta.
More than 300 people dressed in their finest purple attire gathered for a soiree to remember with signature cocktails, dueling pianos and an impressive silent auction. Auction items included golf trips, hot air balloon rides, sommelier packages and sports memorabilia to name just a few. Nearly $40,000 was raised at this sold-out event to benefit leading-edge pancreatic cancer research in Alberta.
On behalf of the Alberta Cancer Foundation, we would like to extend a huge thank you to the Purple with a Purpose ladies for their help in redefining the future of cancer research in our province.
