The Alberta Cancer Foundation is dedicated to supporting all aspects of the cancer journey, from diagnosis to survivorship and beyond. Like you, we want patients and families to receive the best care in the best place. Because of your gift, Albertans facing cancer benefi t from:

COMMUNITY CANCER CENTRES

Patients can receive the majority of their treatments within 100 km of their home.

WORLD-CLASS CANCER CARE

Patients have access to Alberta’s brightest minds through novel clinical trials and therapies.

ENHANCED CANCER CARE

Patients have access to health-care staff with specialized and advanced oncology training, including enhanced technology and equipment.

RURAL SUPPORT

Rural Albertans have access to the Patient Navigator Program, where specially-trained cancer-care nurses offer support.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Patients and families in need can apply to the Patient Financial Assistance Program, including emergency vouchers.

YOU ARE HELPING PATIENTS LIKE DELORES

In December 2014, Delores Zuk’s family urged her to go to the hospital, as she was unable to climb a fl ight of stairs without being completely out of breath. X-rays showed spots on both lungs, and at the doctor’s request, she stayed for an additional CT scan. By January 2015, Delores Zuk was diagnosed with stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer. Delores met her oncologist, Dr. Randeep Sangha at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, who suggested that Delores was eligible to participate in a clinical trial, which he estimated would extend her life another four to five years.

Thanks to the life-saving clinical trials Delores has been a part of, she has vacationed with her husband in Hawaii, visited her daughter in-law’s home province of Newfoundland and Labrador, and each and every day gets to see her grandchildren grow.
